Forever Yours Sew Along

Welcome to the start of the Forever Yours Sew Along!

2 SLQ Forever Yours.png

It’s the inaugural Sweet Little Quilts sew along and I am so excited. This pattern is great for beginners using two basic blocks pulled together for one larger block and has several fabric placement options and turns to keep the quilt interesting.

The Forever Yours Quilt is also perfect for a sew along because it lends itself to a group project or even block swaps to make one special quilt or one quilt for everyone in your swap.

If this is your first sew along, welcome. I know we will have a great time together. If you have participated in other sew alongs, this will be uniquely ours, full of tips and tricks in weekly emails and on the Sew Along Blog Posts … and great PRIZES! The blog posts will always be available to you, so if you are moving slower one week than you planned, the information is here for you when you need it.

Forever Yours Sew Along Main Points

  • Who? There is not an official sign up and anyone who wants to participate may join.

  • When? September 13 – October 11, 2021

  • Where? Everything is online. Sew along updates will be posted on this blog and on Instagram.

  • What? You will make a Forever Yours Quilt in the size of your choice. The pattern is set for a throw or baby size, but it can be easily adapted for a bed size as well.

  • Why? Because we all need a chance to join others, be inspired and share what we are making and seeing what other quilts are making as well. Plus …. PRIZES!

The sample quilt was made with blocks provided by Birgit Knutsen, Candace Rice, Jessica Feddema, Jennifer Wiatrowski, Jodie Viall, Lacey Poirier, Louisa Liang, Mary Gove, Mikaela Elam, Jennifer Cannon, Ruthanne Berdahl, Lori Clark and Tonya Dorris.

What Does a Sweet Little Quilts Sew Along Look Like?

I picture the SLQ Forever Yours Sew Along being like others you have seen or joined and a time that is encouraging, fun and inspiring. It will be filled with talented and fun quilters, beginners to advanced, sharing their photos and processes as they sew the same pattern. The beauty is that the quilts will all be different and unique to the quilt makers. As the pattern was designed to be a signature quilt, I can also see it involving special people and stories from the lives of the makers. That is what I am excited about because this is a great opportunity to share the meaning of the quilts being made. And, as a sew along, this will give you the prompting to work in sections to have a completed quilt top by the end.

The Forever Yours Sew Along Includes:

  • A new host – Debbie, Sweet Little Quilts – but will also feature the very capable block contributors from the sample quilt. As a quilt dedicated to honoring others, this will be a great opportunity to connect with other quilters near and far, hear their stories and see what they will be making as well.

  • Weekly prizes! Every week by posting your progress to Instagram and using #ForeverYoursSA you will be entered into that week’s giveaway. Each week is sponsored by an amazing company to award one person a free prize. Please note that you must have a public profile to participate.

  • Skill Building. With a group of quilters working on the same project, along with any tips and tricks I will share, you will receive so many other skills from those shared by the participants. We will all learn something new.

  • Team Support. We are all here for each other which includes:

  • A weekly blog post with the week’s assignments, helpful tips and what the host, guest hosts and fellow participants are working on. The post will go live every Monday morning.

  • A weekly newsletter will be sent on Saturday mornings to remind you about the week’s assignment and any prompts. If you’re not already signed up for the SLQ newsletter, sign up here.

  • Special stories, posts and videos/reels will be on shared Instagram.
